Beyond Learning Towards Brilliance
ABS ADMISSIONS
ABS is not designed as a conventional admissions-at-scale programme.
Our admissions process is intended to identify a very small number of families whose educational aspirations, family environment, learner profile, commitment and demonstrated ability to engage meaningfully with the ABS approach are strongly aligned.
Accordingly, admission to ABS is selective, evidence-based and capacity-constrained.
The application is therefore not merely a request for admission. It is the beginning of a structured process through which ABS seeks to understand the family, the learner and the family's readiness to participate in the programme.
ABS considers education to be a partnership between the learner, the family and the institution.
A successful ABS engagement requires more than academic ability.
It requires:
intellectual curiosity;
willingness to learn;
family support;
consistency;
personal responsibility;
openness to feedback;
disciplined execution;
appropriate use of technology and learning resources;
and sustained participation in the ABS learning process.
For this reason, ABS evaluates the family and learner together, rather than assessing the learner solely through academic credentials.
The admissions process has four underlying dimensions:
Understanding the family and learner entering the ABS admissions process.
Understanding why the family is seeking ABS and what educational outcomes it hopes to achieve.
Assessing the family's willingness and ability to support sustained participation.
Observing how the learner and family actually engage with ABS through Interactive Physical Sessions (IPS) and Interactive Online Sessions (IOS).
The distinction is important:
What a family says in an application is relevant.
What a family has demonstrated is more relevant.
How the learner and family engage during assessment is decisive.
2. WHO SHOULD APPLY
The ABS application is intended for families who:
have a clearly articulated educational purpose;
are prepared to participate actively in the learner's development;
value both academic and broader educational development;
are willing to commit the required time and resources;
can provide the learner with an appropriate learning environment;
are comfortable with structured evaluation and feedback;
and understand that submission of an application does not guarantee admission.
Applicants should complete the application carefully and truthfully.
The application should be regarded as a formal representation of the family's circumstances, educational background, aspirations and readiness to participate in the ABS programme.
3. THE ADMISSION PROCESS
The ABS admissions process consists of four broad stages.
The family submits the ABS Application Form containing:
Family background;
Parents' educational and professional experience;
Siblings' educational background;
Learner's educational profile;
Learner's extracurricular experience;
Learner's achievements;
Family's educational intentions;
Family's expectations from ABS;
Availability and commitment;
Relevant supporting information.
The application is reviewed for completeness, relevance and eligibility.
Eligible and sufficiently complete applications are assessed against the ABS admissions framework.
The application component contributes 50% of the overall assessment score:
Family Background - 25%
Learner Education, Experience & Achievements - 25%
IPS & IOS Assessment - 50%
Total - 100%
The application therefore contributes 50 points and the observed IPS/IOS assessment contributes 50 points.
4. FAMILY BACKGROUND - 25%
ABS seeks to understand the educational and professional environment in which the learner is being raised.
The family assessment may consider:
educational qualifications;
institutions attended;
areas of study;
academic distinctions and achievements;
professional experience;
leadership experience;
entrepreneurial experience;
professional achievements;
creative, intellectual or community contributions;
continuing learning and professional development.
Where applicable:
educational background;
current educational stage;
notable academic achievements;
extracurricular achievements;
significant interests or areas of accomplishment.
The purpose of this section is not to privilege a particular profession, institution, qualification or social background.
Rather, ABS seeks to understand the family's educational culture, intellectual environment, experiences, aspirations and demonstrated engagement with learning.
5. LEARNER EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ACHIEVEMENTS — 25%
The second application component focuses on the learner.
This section may include:
current school / educational setting;
previous educational experience;
subjects studied;
areas of strength;
areas requiring development;
academic interests;
academic distinctions;
projects and independent learning.
sport;
music;
performing arts;
visual arts;
reading and writing;
public speaking;
debating;
technology;
coding;
science;
entrepreneurship;
community activities;
leadership;
competitions;
clubs and societies;
other sustained interests.
Applicants should provide achievements that are specific, verifiable where appropriate and meaningful to the learner's development.
ABS is interested not only in awards, but also in:
persistence;
initiative;
curiosity;
creativity;
leadership;
independent effort;
improvement over time;
problem-solving;
collaboration;
and depth of engagement.
An applicant is therefore not expected to demonstrate achievement in every category.
6. INTENTION
The application should require the family to articulate its intention clearly.
The family should explain:
What specifically has led the family to consider ABS?
What has changed, or what opportunity does the family believe ABS can address at this stage?
The response should address educational, personal, intellectual and/or developmental objectives.
Applicants should distinguish between:
what they expect ABS to provide; and
what they understand the family and learner must contribute.
Families should describe the outcomes they would consider meaningful after participating in ABS.
7. COMMITMENT
ABS requires meaningful participation from the family.
Applicants should therefore demonstrate that they understand the practical commitment associated with participation.
The application should establish:
expected availability;
preferred learning schedule;
ability to attend required sessions;
availability for IPS;
availability for IOS;
availability of suitable devices and connectivity;
family support for the learner;
willingness to participate in reviews and feedback;
willingness to comply with agreed programme requirements.
Commitment should be evaluated as demonstrated readiness, rather than merely as a declaration of enthusiasm.
8. EXECUTION
The final and most heavily weighted component is demonstrated through:
and
Interactive Online Sessions (IOS)
Together, IPS and IOS contribute 50% of the overall admissions score.
These sessions allow ABS to assess the learner beyond information supplied in the application.
Assessment may include:
participation;
curiosity;
listening;
comprehension;
questioning;
communication;
reasoning;
problem-solving;
creativity;
adaptability;
responsiveness to feedback;
independent thinking;
collaboration;
persistence;
digital interaction where relevant;
preparedness;
punctuality;
and overall engagement.
The purpose is not simply to test what the learner already knows.
ABS is particularly interested in understanding how the learner learns.
9. IPS & IOS ASSESSMENT — 50%
ABS may use a structured assessment rubric across the IPS and IOS stages.
The precise allocation may be determined by the academic team according to the programme and learner's age. The framework is:
Assessment Dimension
Intellectual engagement
Comprehension
Reasoning
Communication
Problem solving
Learning agility
Creativity
Collaboration
Responsiveness
Preparedness & participation
Indicative Area
Curiosity, questioning and depth
Understanding instructions and concepts
Analysis and logical thinking
Expression and articulation
Approach, persistence and adaptability
Response to new information
Originality and exploration
Interaction and contribution
Ability to receive and apply feedback
Readiness, consistency and engagement
ABS should retain discretion to adapt the assessment methodology to the learner's age, programme and circumstances.
10. FINAL SCORE
The final admissions score is calculated as follows:
Family Background: 25 points maximum
Learner Education, Experience & Achievements: 25 points maximum
IPS & IOS Assessment: 50 points maximum
TOTAL: 100 points
The final shortlist is determined using the overall assessment outcome, subject to programme capacity and ABS's admissions criteria.
11. HIGHLY SELECTIVE ADMISSIONS
ABS operates with extremely limited admissions capacity.
The intended selection benchmark is approximately:
1 selected family for every 250 applicant families
This represents an approximate selection rate of 0.4%.
This benchmark communicates the highly selective nature of the programme; it should not, however, be presented as an automatic quota or guarantee that exactly one family will be selected from every 250 applications.
Actual selection will depend upon:
available capacity;
programme requirements;
quality and completeness of applications;
assessment outcomes;
IPS/IOS performance;
learner–programme fit;
family readiness;
and the academic and operational requirements of ABS.
Submission of an application does not create an entitlement to assessment, admission, enrolment or participation.
12. FINAL SHORTLISTING
Following completion of the relevant assessment stages, ABS will determine the final shortlist.
The decision may consider:
the weighted application score;
IPS performance;
IOS performance;
consistency across the application and observed sessions;
learner–programme fit;
family readiness;
programme capacity;
other legitimate programme-specific criteria.
Where applicants have closely comparable scores, ABS may apply additional internal criteria or an additional assessment stage.
ABS's admissions decision will be communicated to the applicant family by 29/09/2026
13. IMPORTANT APPLICATION PRINCIPLE
Families are encouraged to provide an accurate representation of themselves and the learner.
ABS does not expect every family or learner to have an identical educational profile.
There is no requirement to manufacture an impressive application.
Authenticity, evidence, depth of engagement and demonstrated potential are more meaningful than the volume of claims or achievements
